SPURS TALK: Tottenham set to make a Klaas move

12:53pm Wednesday 27th August 2008

TOTTENHAM have turned their attention to Ajax striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar after reportedly landing Russian star Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Spartak Moscow forward Pavlyuchenko revealed that he is on the verge of joining the Lilywhites, despite earlier insisting he was not interested in the move.

The 26-year-old did not go with his team mates to Kiev for their Champions League qualifier in order to finalise the transfer.

Some reports are suggesting that Pavlyuchenko has already signed a £30,000 a week deal after the clubs agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £16million.

But the hitman is expected in London to complete a medical and put pen to paper today, with the player himself saying: "I shall be granted a visa now and, I'll go to England for the signing of the contract."

Now - with Dimitar Berbatov almost certain to depart - Spurs boss Juande Ramos is keen to add one more forward to his squad.

And Dutch international Huntelaar appears to be his top target.

The 25-year-old is one of the most sought after properties in Europe, and has previously attracted the attention of Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

His arrival would be a massive coup for the ambitious north London club.
