Hot-shot Sol can’t wait to face Foxes

9:54am Thursday 20th November 2008

DAGENHAM and Redbridge midfielder Solomon Taiwo has warned Leicester City that there is plenty more to come from him after his stunning strike against Hereford United ensured the team would be lining up at the Walkers Stadium in the second round of the FA Cup.

The 23-year-old's long range effort was hailed as a 'goal that would grace any ground, anywhere' by assistant manager Terry Harris, while it also doubled Dagenham's lead and ensured the Bulls could not force their way back into the game.

However, while admitting that it was one of his most memorable strikes, Taiwo was reluctant to dwell on the past, and revealed that he is keen to show what he is capable of against one of League One's premier sides.

“Given the situation, it was probably one of the best I have scored,” he said.

“Right now we just need to focus on the next league game, but the Leicester match will certainly be a chance for me to prove what I can do.”

Only a year ago, Taiwo was plying his trade for non-league side Sutton United – a far cry from a lucrative tie in one of the world's most famous cup competitions.

The former Millwall academy player believes he has what it takes to compete at the top level, although opportunities have been hard to come by.

But the Daggers' trip to the Midlands on November 29 will provide him with the kind of chance he has been longing for.

“It's a great chance for players like us, considering where we've come from,” continued Taiwo, who won August's League Two player of the month award earlier this season.

“I've always been confident that I can play at a high level but you have to take things like this in your stride.

“There's a lot more to come from me. When chances like this come about, you have to grab them with both hands and that's what I want to do.”
