THE agent of Tottenham target Andrei Arshavin has revealed Spanish giants Real Madrid are 'in pole position' to land the Russian star.

Spurs are believed to have agreed personal terms with the diminutive attacker over the summer before talks over a price with his club Zenit St Petersburg broke down.

Arshavin has made no secret of his desire to test himself at the highest level and has admitted that a move to Barcelona or the Bernabeu would be his preferred choice.

And the 27-year-old's agent insists that his client is edging closer to a move to Madrid.

"He is being followed in England, Italy and Spain,” Dennis Lachter told the Sun. “Several things are happening, but we have had no concrete offers.

"Real Madrid are in pole position but we have not entered any negotiations."
