WILLIAM Gallas has been stripped of the Arsenal captaincy following his scathing attack on his team-mates .
The French defender had accused one of the club's players of 'insulting' the team, while he also revealed details of in-fighting in the Gunners' dressing room during the side's dramatic 4-4 draw with fierce rivals Tottenham last month.
Gallas will not travel with the Arsenal squad for their match with Manchester City at Eastlands tomorrow.
It is believed that keeper Manuel Almunia will take the armband for the game against Mark Hughes' men, while it remains to be seen who Arsene Wenger will choose as his permanent skipper, with Cesc Fabregas and Gael Clichy thought to be the favourites.
The news could signal the end of Gallas' Arsenal career, after a series of controversial incidents, including his famous sit-down protest during the side's draw with Birmingham City last season, while he was also reprimanded by Wenger after being pictured outside a nightclub with a cigarette in his mouth last month.
