AN investigation is underway into the cause of a blaze at a scrap yard near Ongar.
Dozens of firefighters – from Ingatestone, Brentwood, Ongar, Chelmsford, Great Baddow, Harlow and Epping - were called to Woolmongers Lane, in Blackmore, shortly before 9.30pm last night (Wednesday).
A spokesman said the yard, which contained about 100 tonnes of scrap vehicles, was “well alight”.
Crews remained on the scene until 1am damping down the remains.
The spokesman said: “The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and an investigation will be carried out.
