FIRE-FIGHTERS past and present will be holding a reunion to celebrate the service they have provided to the local community.
Epping Fire Station officer-in-charge Derek Whitbread is organising the get-together to ensure strong bonds formed between volunteers are retained. The town council has agreed to provide Epping Hall free of charge to the volunteers.
Mayor Ben Murphy said the offer is a "token of our appreciation".
He added: "This is an opportunity for our town to express its most sincere gratitude to our local volunteers whose service often goes unrecognised, but allows every member of our community to feel safe and supported.
“The dedication our fire-fighters give is truly astonishing. The sacrifices which often have to be made and the commitment to drop whatever you are doing to help someone else really is worth commendation.
“We hope this is a small way of saying thank you to our fire-fighters for all that they do for Epping."
