LOUGHTON: Appeal for old photographs

11:44am Wednesday 27th August 2008

LOCAL historian Sue Taylor is appealing for photographs of the Debden Estate in the 1940s and 1950s.

She wants to use them in her forthcoming book about the post-war estate.

Mrs Taylor, a committee member of the Loughton and District Historical Society, is also interested in receiving old newspaper cuttings, newsletters, programmes of events and any other memorabilia.

Sue said: "I’m sure there’s a wealth of material long forgotten in lofts and albums about the early days of the estate, as well as photographs of houses and prefabs. I’m hoping people might be willing to either give them to me or allow me to borrow them, so they can be photocopied for possible inclusion in my forthcoming book."

Anyone who would like to write down their memories of the estate, up until 1960, can contact Mrs Taylor on 020 8508 2512 or outerlondon@aol.com
