SUPERMARKET giant Lidl is holding another open day to rally support for its proposal for a new outlet.

The German retailor is hoping to set up in Cartersfield Road, in Waltham Abbey, and will hold the open day at the town hall on Tuesday, November 18 between 1pm and 7pm.

On October 29, Epping Forest District Council's planning committee voted to grant Lidl's application, but its decision must now be ratified by its Development Control Committee.

this type of store suits waltham abbey right down to the ground. once the aldi opens up as well it will be like heaven for all the chavs that live up there.

I take offence at the use of the word chav used in the last comment, I have lived in Waltham Abbey all my life, its a wonderful place to live, most people are friendly, but there is not much money around at the moment, anywhere, so cheap supermarkets are very welcome here.

the fact that you have lived in the abbey all your life says it all for me - the place is full of people like you who have never moved out.

the place is stuffed full of little englanders who hate change or new things happening, it took over 7 years for the tescos to get built because of nimby town councillors and residents who all moaned and complained about their 'historic' town. well whats so historic about a dozen empty pubs and the same number of tatty charity shops?

i lived in waltham abbey for 10 years, the one and only senior school was in special measures, no way was i going to send my kids there so thats why we moved. every time you got the local paper it was stories of cars being nicked and burned out on the ninefields estate. i could go on, of course its nice and friendly for all the little cliques that have lived there all their lives and cant see past the end of their noses.

well i have had my rant about waltham abbey, now i feel better!
