WANSTEAD: Has your dog been poisoned in one of our parks?

1:37pm Thursday 21st August 2008

WITH an animal poisoner thought to be deliberately targeting dogs in Wanstead, the Guardian would like to hear from any other residents who fear their pets may also have fallen victim.

As we reported today (Thursday, pet lovers have been warned to be vigilant after a dog died and two others became seriously ill after eating meat which experts suspect was laced with poison.

One distraught owner, who asked not to be named for fear of being targeted again, said his two year-old Jack Russell, Claire, collapsed and died after being taken for a walk in Wanstead park.

The other two dogs fell ill after eating chicken covered in what is thought to have been rat poison, in Christchurch Green, Wanstead.

Sgt Kate O'Riordan, of Snaresbrook Safer Neighbourhoods Team, has warned dog walkers to be on their guard.
