ONE of two teenagers arrested in connection with the stabbing to death of 18 year-old Charles Junior Hendricks in Walthamstow, has been held for questioning for a second day.
The 17 year-old youth remains in custody after being discharged from hospital where he was treated for a slash wound to the arm.
A 19 year-old man arrested at the same time has been released on bail.
The pair were taken into custody shortly after the murder, which took place near the central bus station in Selbourne Road, at about 01.40 yesterday (Sunday) morning.
Officers on a routine patrol noticed two or three men running away from the area and arrived at the scene to find Mr Hendricks lying bleeding on the ground.
He was taken by ambulance to Whipps Cross University Hospital, in Leytonstone, but died shortly after arrival.
A post-mortem was held this morning at Walthamstow mortuary, but no details have so far been released.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector John Sandlin, who is leading the murder investigation, said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the murder to please contact police with any information you may have.
"The incident happened close to a well lit bus garage.
"Did you see several males in the grass area near to the bus garage and close to Selborne Walk Shopping Centre? Did you see anyone run away from the scene?
"At this early stage we must retain an open mind as to any motive."
