A third man eluded police after a police chase, Chelmsford Crown Court heard.

They brandished a knife and threatened staff and customers when they stole jewellery and cash from the shop on August 4.

The jewellery shop's manager chased after them but they sped off in a black BMW at speeds more than 100mph.

The store manager alerted police who spotted the getaway car being driven erratically.

Police pursued it along the A12 but near Romford the robbers crashed into another vehicle, and the driver ran off while the two passengers were arrested nearby.

All the jewellery and £4,000 were recovered by police.

Ten months jail = five months jail.

Theft of 50k

Threatening with knives

Speeding at 100mph in a car without insurance no doubt.

Likely to be reformed when they get out? No.

Likely to do more crime? Yes.

What is the point of it all?

It's called "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime".

Utter poppycock.

Never mind threatening with knives & robbery.

They were speeding which these days must bring at least a minimum sentence of 20years!!!!

What a waste of Tax payers money. They will not be reformed when they come out and will probably go on to commit more crimes. The senstences are not long enough and 10 months will be more than likely reduced will be like a holidaqy camp.
If senstences where longer and tougher then maybe people will think before they act.
The fact they cannot name the 17 year old says a lot about the law, why should his identity be protected. Come on at 17 you know robbing (armed robbery at that) is wrong.
