Teachers to blame, not tests

I ONLY did my GCSEs about ten years ago and had no trouble passing them all, though I was certainly never a model student (Guardian, October 23).

So if exams really are getting easier as everyone says, I really don’t see what the problem is.

Though I understand that constant tests can be stressful, especially for certain children, at least they are keeping them on their toes and reminding them that they can’t just sit at the back of the classroom swinging on their chairs and popping gum.

I know academia is not for everyone but GCSEs are hardly rocket science.

It strikes me that it is not the Government’s constant testing which is failing these children, but the teachers’ inability to take responsibility for the kids in their classes who are failing to grasp the basics.
