I WOULD like to show my support for the unfortunate disabled woman who was issued with a parking ticket in what sounds like very unfair circumstances (Guardian, October 23).
While it is clear that she did park in the wrong place, the parking expert makes a very good point in that the signs are not something you should have to set out to find when you find a suitable parking space.
Surely if there are restrictions that are so ridiculous as to prevent people parking on a kerb for a whole hour during the day, then they should make this a little more obvious to anyone who chooses to park in such a place.
It amazes me that wardens would even give a ticket to a blue badge holder in the first place, but I find it hardly surprising that the lady’s appeal was rejected as personal circumstances don’t seem to matter.
It’s all about making money, which is why these signs are made so small and sparse in the first place.
I hope her appearance in the paper will prompt the council to think again.
