ONCE again Waltham Forest Council rides roughshod over us and seems to think we are all idiots.
A local pub closes and the land is sold off to developers, planning permission for new flats will not be given says the council.
Tesco want to build a big store at Highams Park, “no way,” says the council.
“We will build smaller with housing as well,” say Tesco’s. “Why not?” says the council.
They flatten the top of the High Street to build something marvellous in consultation with the people of the borough.
Then leave it vacant for ages until everyone’s fed up. Now they do what they want and decide it is a good idea to put up a giant screen. Whoopee!
The Louisa Oakes centre. The council says: “We’ll sell it off for development and if anyone complains just say we’ll use the money raised for education.”
Now we have the car park in Highams Park, “I know”, says the council, “let's put up the charges so no-one parks there, then when no one uses it we can sell it off for yet more housing for other boroughs.” Why do we have to put up with councils that never listen to what most people actually want?
