FURTHER to the article in the Guardian (October 16) regarding an abandoned house on Hainault Road, I would like to add my comments.
Over the past three years, I have spoken to Environment Health, Ascham Homes, social services and in front of witnesses, Clyde Loakes, all to no avail.
They were very good at blaming other departments of the council.
The residents, who were at last given a new home in June of this year, are mentally impaired. They came from Claybury under the care of social services, but for the past two years have been left to their own devices.
This is not an isolated case, and social services should not be blamed as their staff and funds have been cut back, but not the salaries of the top councillors.
The blame lands at the feet of Waltham Forest Council.
Mrs Elsie Speck, Hainault Road, Leytonstone.
