SEAN Thornton believes that the pre-season friendly against Dagenham & Redbridge was another good run out for the O's.

Thornton played 45 minutes in Orient's 4-1 win at Victoria Road on Tuesday night and thought that it was another good performance from the side.

"I was pleased with the run out against Dagenham and I think as a team we showed we were much fitter than them in the second half," said Thornton "Hopefully we can build on this now during the rest of the pre-season games, and then take that into the first game of the season."

And Thornton has revealed how he has been training hard throughout the summer to ensure he is a fitter player for the upcoming campaign.

"I've worked hard on my own before we came back for pre-season because as you get older you do need to look after yourself a lot more.

"Obviously some of the younger lads can get away with things a bit more after the season has finished, but the older you get you really have to watch your weight.

"We were all given programmes and a target weight to come back with, and I was able to do that after doing some jogging on my own.

"At the moment I feel really good and hopefully I can keep working on my fitness ready for the start of the season."

"I certainly feel much better than last pre-season and I think that comes after looking after yourself better."
