WEST HAM are reportedly in a two-way race to sign tough-tackling Argentine defender Fabricio Coloccini.
The 26-year-old has previously attracted the attention of Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs, and Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, the Irons are believed to joined Newcastle in launching a firm bid for the Deportivo La Coruna ace.
Coloccini - who has 29 Argentina caps - started his career at Boca Juniors before moving to AC Milan in 1999.
However, he never made the breakthrough at the San Siro and was continually loaned out, notably to Spanish clubs Alaves, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal.
