SPURS TALK: Berbatov shunned by his Tottenham team-mates

MEDIA reports this morning claim that want-away Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov was shunned by his team-mates at training yesterday.

The Sun claims the temperamental Bulgarian was given the cold shoulder after he made his first appearance after being axed for Saturday’s defeat by Sunderland.

And Berbatov could find himself left in limbo if his proposed move to Manchester United doesn't go through by Monday, when the transfer window shuts. So far Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to be refusing to up his original bid of £25million for the 27-year-old, and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may let the frontman rot in the White Hart Lane reserves if his £30million valuation.

And Manchester United legend Lou Macari told the paper that the surly strikers' poor attitude will make it hard for him to fit in at Old Trafford.

He said: “United players, even on a bad day, will always give their all.

“The manager demands it and that’s why I’m not so sure Berbatov is the player we want — he is not that type of player.

“All these excuses are being made for him at the minute, that he is not in the right frame of mind.

“I was at Middlesbrough when Spurs played there two weeks ago and they said he was not focused.

“When you’re playing professional football you get out on that pitch and you’re focused — whether you’re playing for a team you want to play for or you want to move on.

“In that game at Boro he was asked to play for 25 minutes, he moped about and sulked a bit.

“If there is anyone who can get that out of his game and keep the good side it is Alex Ferguson. But do you pay £25m plus for someone like that?”
